As a foreign language teacher, I have been using iPods to allow my students to listen to natural language and practice individually. I then pair the students up and use voice recorders with the iPods to have the students record their conversations. This allows me to review students work at a later time as well as provide the students with audio files they can take home with them to practice with.

Because of this program, I have been able to spend less time grading oral lessons in class and can spend more time with students who need my help.

One of the only downsides is that some students don't have computers at home to practice with, putting them at a slight disadvantage than those students who do. To compensate, I try and allow those students to have some extra in-class time, but I sometimes wonder if that's enough.
